Michael Chavies has practiced law for 17 years, specializing in criminal defense, civil litigation, and appellate law, before being appointed to the bench by Governor Lawton Chiles in 1992. Michael is involved in complex commercial cases in the courtroom for the firm's larger public companies, and serves as a mentor to its young attorneys. He is also a key member of the firm's Diversity Program and assists in the recruitment of new attorneys.
