August 22, 2011
Akerman Senterfitt Shareholder Carol Schoffel Faber has been selected by Real Estate Forum magazine as one of its "Women of Influence" for 2011 -- an honor given to only 51 women in the national real estate industry excelling in both professional disciplines and visibility. Faber is co-chair of the Akerman Distressed Property Practice and represents clients in Florida and around the country on various real estate issues. Faber joins other Akerman women honored by the industry including shareholders Silvia Alderman, Cecelia Bonifay and Theresa McLaughlin, who were named by Real Estate Florida magazine as leading women in commercial real estate. Real Estate Forum magazine is a leading national magazine for the commercial real estate industry published by ALM.
"Carol’s deep understanding and forward thinking about real estate transactions have proven invaluable to our clients, particularly in the timely and challenging area of distressed assets," said Richard Bezold, chair of the Akerman National Real Estate Practice Group. "We are thrilled that Akerman’s real estate practice group, and its leading women, continues to receive accolades from the industry."
Faber has more than 26 years of experience representing borrowers and lenders in mortgage loans, ranging from several million dollars to more than $600 million, on vacant land and developed property of all kinds. A certified mediator for the Florida Supreme Court and past director for the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, Faber also is one of a select group of lawyers recognized by The Legal 500 2011 for her work in real estate.
The Akerman Real Estate Practice Group represents clients in complex real estate transactions, development and redevelopment projects, public-private initiatives, loan recovery and litigation matters. Recognized nationally by The Legal 500 and PLC Which Lawyer?, the group offers substantial industry experience and prominent local presence, advising corporations, developers, investors and governmental entities, often in high profile matters.
