Akerman Senterfitt Receives Top Honors at Benchmark Litigation Annual Awards
Winning Categories Include Regional Law Firm of the Year for Diversity and Florida Litigation Law Firm of the Year

Akerman Senterfitt today announced Benchmark Litigation has recognized the firm as Law Firm of the Year for Diversity - South and as the Florida Litigation Law Firm of the Year.

Akerman was named Law Firm of the Year for Diversity for its efforts in recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce, and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment that provides opportunities to minorities and women for advancement through partnership and leadership roles within the firm. Akerman’s diversity committee is co-chaired by Joseph Hatchett, the first African American to serve on the Florida Supreme Court, and the first African American to serve as a Chief Judge of a federal appellate court in the southern United States, and by Michael Chavies, former Judge of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit.

Akerman was named Florida Litigation Law Firm of the Year for a number of high-profile and complex cases, including representation of inVentiv Health in defending class-action litigation in connection with a $1.1 billion going-private merger transaction; representation of a global defense and aerospace company in an International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) arbitration in Madrid, Spain, in connection with a commercial dispute with a foreign government; and representation of the National Association of Home Builders and Florida Home Builders Association as amicus curiae in appeal in the Fourth District Court of Appeal.
