Politico Quotes Pedro Freyre on Cuba's Business Outlook for U.S. Companies
March 11, 2015
International Practice Chair Pedro Freyre discussed with Politico what U.S. companies may expect from Cuba's private sector, as the White House opens ties with the island nation. In a story titled, "For U.S. Businesses, Road to Cuba Fraught with Uncertainties," the publication described how the Cuban economy needs several reforms to regain competitiveness. While acknowledging some challenges, Freyre told the publication which economic sectors in Cuba may offer significant opportunities, particularly agriculture, infrastructure, telecommunications and financial services, among several others.

"Somebody described Havana as a city in need of a billion gallons of paint," Freyre told Politico. "I suspect, if I were a member of the Cuban government, I would say bring it on, because it's positive. It's a good thing for the country."
