Richard Hurt Featured for Leading Efforts to Form Central Florida Foundation
January 25, 2017
Richard Hurt was featured in an article by the Central Florida Foundation for the instrumental role he played in creating and sustaining the organization. Titled, "Central Florida Estate Planning Attorney Gives the Community Options to Leave a Legacy," the story journeyed into the formation of what today has become a vital community resource. As the first board chairman of the Central Florida Foundation, Hurt described his collaborative efforts with clients and other business leaders to form the community foundation more than 25 years ago. Initially intended to encourage philanthropy in the region and to make giving back easier for clients, the Central Florida Foundation is now a cornerstone of the community, fostering partnerships across business, governments and nonprofits, and increasing impact in the areas of human services, health, the environment, children, arts and many others. Hurt also described the Central Florida Foundation as a critical platform for his clients and other institutions that are looking for safe, efficient ways to invest generously in the areas most important to them.

Central Florida Foundation wrote, "Rick housed the Foundation in his firm's office [Akerman's Orlando office] and it was a great starting place to introduce it to the community. He served as the first board chairman as the organization began learning, establishing committees, putting policies in place and more."

"Rick said back when he and his peers were dreaming about a community foundation, he could have never imagined the collaborations that have been possible because of Central Florida Foundation. 'Seeing the growth of the Foundation today astounds everyone and how we did it together,' said Hurt."
