Akerman Grows Bankruptcy & Reorganization Practice with Chicago Partner Paul Caruso

Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, today announced the continued growth of its Chicago office with Partner Paul Caruso in the Bankruptcy & Reorganization Practice Group. Caruso enhances Akerman's financial services capabilities for corporate and real estate clients, at a time when the Chicago office is doubling square footage after growing to nearly 50 lawyers since opening in 2014.

Caruso represents clients in a variety of restructuring matters, across many sectors, including financial services, real estate, energy, manufacturing and media. In court, he has represented clients in complex traditional, pre-packaged and pre-arranged Chapter 11 cases. His experience includes negotiating DIP and exit financing packages, drafting and negotiating plans of reorganization, negotiating debt and equity documents for reorganized companies, drafting and negotiating documents and pleadings in connection with section 363 asset sales, and structuring exit strategies for Chapter 11 debtors.

Caruso also has represented clients in connection with debt-for-equity exchanges, advising clients in connection with strategic planning, debt restructuring alternatives, and Chapter 11 filings as well as other corporate and debt restructurings and financings. Prior to his legal career, Paul served on active duty with the United States Marine Corps. In addition, Paul was a Law Clerk to the Honorable David S. Doty, United States District Court Judge for the District of Minnesota.
 
In addition to Caruso, recent partner additions to Akerman's Bankruptcy & Reorganization Practice Group include John Campo in New York, Brian Gart in Fort Lauderdale, John Mitchell and David Parham in Dallas, as well as Patrick Johnson and Brent Wyatt in New Orleans, La.
